balls of joy:

Balls of Joy: Little bites of heaven and much needed energy boost for those low moments when out on the hills. Here’s a handy base mix to create your own – my good friend Joy likes to eyeball every ingredient as it increases the fun factor. In case you do want some measures, here’s our base mix recipe. Feel free to add any additional ingredients to tailor to your taste buds. Personally, I like adding coconut flakes and some almond essence!

recipe: 

  • 1 ¼ cup rolled or steel cut Scottish oats.

  • 2 tbsp of chia seeds OR flax, hemp, sunflower to name a few

  • ½ cup nut butter (we love cashew)

  • 1/3 cup of honey (or vegan alternative)

  • 1 tsp almond extract

  • Pinch of salt

directions:

simply combine all ingredients in a large bowl, adding in more oats or liquid until the desired sticky consistency

Roll into ball like shapes and then pop them in the fridge. 

Easy to store in a plastic container and when out on the trail in a reusuble bag.

Share with friends for added joy.
